High-Velocity Air Handler — Attic Install
Older buildings with no room for conventional ductwork call for small-duct high-velocity systems. The air handler in this photo is a Unico system set in a tight attic: suspended on threaded rod to isolate vibration, fed by an insulated round supply plenum, with hydronic coil connections run in PEX and copper.
Attic installs live or die on the details — clearances for service, condensate protection over finished space, and sealing every joint on the high-velocity side. TnD Mechanical handles the full scope from structural hangers to balanced airflow at the outlets.
Scope
What's Involved
- Structural suspension and vibration isolation
- Insulated supply plenum and branch takeoffs
- Hydronic or refrigerant coil connections
- Primary and secondary condensate protection
- High-velocity outlet placement and balancing
- Controls integration and commissioning
